What is an industrial design?

An industrial design refers to the aesthetic or ornamental aspect of a product — such as shape, pattern, or color. 

Why should I register my design?

Registration gives you exclusive rights over the design and prevents unauthorized copying or imitation. 

How long is a design registration valid?

In India, a design is initially valid for 10 years, extendable by 5 more years. 

Can a logo be protected under design law?

If the logo is applied to a product’s shape or configuration, it may qualify. Otherwise, it’s better protected under trademark law.
